Last Saturday Greg woke me up at 8 in the morning to tell me his Grandpa had passed away. To make our flight, we had to leave our apartment at 9:45. Needless to say, we felt a tad rushed. Not to mention that the night before I had been in the ER with my back and was on muscle relaxers and hydrocodine. Also, our Accord wouldn't start, and we couldn't fit our stuff in the Civic so we had to find someone to drive us all the way to LAX!
God has gracious granted us no shortage of amazing friends. My sweet friend Amy unhesitatingly said she would drive us to the airport, and Brooke cleaned up the whirlwind of our apartment so when we cam home it was clean. Nice surprise to come home to! Our flights were good and Blake slept most of the time. When we wasn't sleeping he was entertaining everyone on the flight with smiles and his porpoise laugh. :)
I didn't really know Greg's grandpa, but it was amazing to hear of God's grace in His life. Granting him a calm spirit, heart for service, and determination to work hard to take care of his family. It is always nice to see family, and this trip was especially great. Both of Greg's brother's were there and they can make any event seem like a party. All Greg's aunts and uncle's were around and had a great time with Blake. I was even able to take a little time to see my family.
It's always sad when someone passes away. But it is so amazing that we can rejoice in death, being reminded of man's frailty and the promise of resurrection in Christ.
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. - 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
